Rites of passage

The moment when journeys are broken and rituals are interrupted, the moment when everything that gives meaning to a culture is thrown out of balance, what happens?

“Rites of Passage” is a journey through the city of Terrassa. An encounter with nature, the land and old age. A journey that awakens stories and reveals historical images. The discovery of a sustainable perspective, an ephemeral passage through the territory.

Cultivating a seed, apparently as fragile as a memory, is a way of sharing the world. From here it becomes the legacy of a life. That transmission is an act of resistance to forgetting, and is what keeps a culture alive. The bonds. That if memory exists to be transmitted, understanding that what is most sustainable tends to disappear to become, perhaps, an embryo again.

Project resulting from the TerrassaCrea grant, Terrassa City Council, “Ritus de pas” is a collaborative creation proposal with the Plantem-nos garden and the Boixac garden. Thanks to Rosa Creus, Mariona Bonet, Mariona Gracia, Rosa Bonastre, Josep Mª Albero, Elisa Guillen, Karina Intriago, Imma Bou, Oscar Flechas, Núria Amat, Rosa González, Pablo Lemos, Susana Guarch, Susana Tortosa, Sílvia Banquer, Àngel Folch, Isabel Ubach, Gemma Grifoll and all the members of the horticultural associations.

The result of the experience is an exhibition in public space, from January 11 to February 15, 2022. A set of five antotypes that were planted at different bus stops in the city. Photographs taken with the photosensitivity of different plant pigments extracted from the gardens of Terrassa.
