Virtual workshop introducing self-portraiture
Presenting the self-portrait as a rite of passage, the objective of the workshop was to learn how to look at oneself. A space where you can explore different ways of looking at yourself, experiment with the body as the main element and get to know the work of references from the Western world such as Claude Cahun, Sofonisba Anguissola, Artemisa Gentileschi, Frances Benjamin Johnson, Meret Oppenheim or Vivian Maier among others. During five online sessions, photography was used as a tool to investigate and express self-representation. To explore the relationship with one’s own body and the environment through movement, reflexes and objects. To acquire basic notions of visual composition, learn about the work of women artists, and cultivate self-esteem in a space of trust. To conclude the experience, a photobook was created to collect the participants’ work.
