ROSETA is a visual exploration to reinterpret the journeys that the Trementinaires undertook a century ago in the territory of the Catalan Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees.
Winning project of the Art and Nature Grants for Creation promoted by the La Panera Art Center, in collaboration with the Farrera Art and Nature Center, in order to promote research and creation in the field of visual arts.
By (re)walking the itineraries that these women traced to sell medicinal herbs, the authors propose to collect and reinterpret the traces of memory (testimonies, objects, legends, etc.) that make up the Trementinaire universe, filling the gaps left by history through photography and walking.
A proposal that invites us to approach the universe of the itinerant healer, understanding walking as an aesthetic practice capable of symbolically and physically transforming the territory with the aim of highlighting the feminine condition of these women, who with their practice have left a way of transmitting knowledge and, therefore, a memory. A trace that has been invisible for a long time due to their gender condition.
Roseta is the voice of all of them. A universe that takes us to the rural world of deep Catalonia, which remains alive thanks to the drive for resistance that these women demonstrated with their walk.
“Roseta, a memory in resistance” has been exhibited at the Farrera Art and Nature Center, the La Panera Art Center, the Ponent Arts and Memory Center, the Inundart festival in Girona and the Tuixent Flora Interpretation Center.
